How the Overall Band Score is Calculated & Rounded

Your overall band score is the arithmetic mean (average) of the four individual module scores, rounded to the nearest half or whole band:

• Rounding Up to Next Half Band: If the average ends in .25, it rounds up to the next half band. (Example: 6.5, 6.5, 6.0, 6.0 = 25.0 / 4 = 6.25, rounded up to 6.5).

• Rounding Up to Next Whole Band: If the average ends in .75, it rounds up to the next whole band. (Example: 6.5, 7.0, 7.0, 7.0 = 27.5 / 4 = 6.875, rounds to 7.0; an average of 6.75 rounds up to 7.0).

• Rounding Down: If the fraction is less than .25, it rounds down to the preceding whole band (e.g., 6.125 becomes 6.0). If it is between .25 and .75 (like .375), it rounds to .5 (e.g., 6.375 becomes 6.5).
